Dr. Donald R. Buxton, Jr., 75, of Lewisberry, passed away after an 8 year struggle due to an atrial fibrillation related stroke, encircled by his wife and 3 children at home, on Monday July 18, 2016.
Born on March 3, 1941 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Donald R. and Blanche (Demers) Buxton, Sr. He was a graduate of Upper Dauphin High School '59, Dickinson College '63, and Hahnemann Medical College '67. He served 2 years of active duty as a physician in the US Army, and then went on to complete his radiology residency in 1973 at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM. He returned to Pennsylvania that year, where he began his career with A.Z. Ritzman Radiology Associates, which later became Quantum Imaging. Dr. Buxton and his wife were members of the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, where he was a past Deacon. He was a Mason at the Ashlar Masonic Lodge #570, in Lykens.
He is survived by his wife Janice (Huggins) Buxton, of Lewisberry; two daughters, Elizabeth Abraham and her husband Kenneth, of Germantown, MD and Lydia Olt, of Mechanicsburg; one son, Douglas Buxton and his wife Tracy, of Falmouth, ME; seven grandchildren, Julia and Jacob Abraham, Rebekah and Caleb Olt, and Ivy, Remington, and Brooke Buxton; and two sisters, Anne Jacobs, of Enola, and Jane Buxton, of Pine Grove.
The essence of Don was enabling people to feel the enjoyment of the moment, no matter the situation. He touched many, many lives with his humor, banter, sports trivial (GO YANKEES!!), and love. He had such fun playing tennis with his buddies, collecting who knows what's next, and having great parties! What great parties they were. We will long for "more cowbell"........
A celebration of Donald's life will be held on Saturday August 20th in the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 N. 23rd St., Camp Hill, with Rev. Dr. David Roquemore and Rev. Frederick Putnam officiating. A visitation with his family will be held in the church from 2 to 4 PM with memorial service starting at 4 PM. Interment of cremains will be held at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the funeral arrangements.
