Debra S. June
September 2, 1951 – June 7, 2016

On Tuesday morning, June 7, Debra Steibing June, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away peacefully. Beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother-to-be, Deb was surrounded by her closest family members as her priest Commended her to God and guided her transition from this world to the next.

Deb is survived by her husband, Matthew "Skip" June; sister, Kay Howsare of Roaring Spring, PA; two sons, Matthew, who lives in Chicago, IL; and Jacob, who lives in Mechanicsburg, PA; a daughter-in-law, Sasha June, who also lives in Chicago; and a little bundle of joy, named Madeline, who will be arriving this summer.

Deb was born on September 2, 1951 in Hazleton, PA to Albert J. and Mildred Bonner Steibing, and she spent her childhood in Roaring Spring, PA. After graduating from Central High School in 1969, Deb attended Shippensburg State College (now Shippensburg University), where she studied to be an elementary teacher and met the love of her life, Skip. Although she only worked as a teacher for one year, Deb retained a life long passion for education, which she shared with Skip, Matt, and Jake - all now teachers, in no small part, because of her inspiration.

In 1974, Deb married Skip June and the two moved to Dallas, Texas, before returning to the area in 1977. That year, Deb took a job as an administrative assistant for Pepper Hamilton LLP. Constantly working and striving to make a better life for her family, Deb returned to school to receive her Paralegal certificate from Penn State University and became a legal assistant in the Harrisburg office for Pepper Hamilton. A testament to her work ethic and the respect she commanded from colleagues, Deb was still working for Pepper at the time of her passing, serving as one of the most respected Senior Legal Assistants in the entire firm, which has offices across the world.

She put even more effort into her time with family and commitments to her community. Skip and Deb have lived in the same house in Camp Hill borough since 1978 and she was a regular presence at sporting events and school functions. She was always proud to support her children, friends, and community members, and strived to better the place she called home, building lasting relationships along the way. Charitable giving was also a core part of Deb's personality, and she supported a range of organizations, too numerous to list here.

In July 2009, Deb was diagnosed with breast cancer but she refused to let the disease slow her down or define her life. No one ever had to tell her to "stay strong" because that was all she ever did, in every aspect of her life. As she continued to battle the disease's progression, Deb and her family found much comfort in their church, Good Shepard Parish. Deb never waivered in her battle against cancer and never gave up hope. Still, she found her peace, and, on June 7, she finally accepted God's loving invitation to join Him in eternal life.

For others who would like to celebrate and remember Deb's life, love, and lasting impact, funeral services will be held at 11 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 3435 E. Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, on Saturday, June 11, with visitation hours from 10 to 11AM. Myers-Harner Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, is handling funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Penn State Hershey Medical Center's Hope for Healing Fund, which supports patients who cannot afford food or medications while going through cancer treatment.
