Obituary

David F. Sheppard, Sr., 96, of Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Messiah Lifeways.Born on June 21, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Weston Stebbons and Lottie Minerva (Fegley) Sheppard, and he was the widower of Esther (Krout) Sheppard.Dave was a graduate of Sharon Hill High School, Sharon Hill, PA. He was a retired PBX Repairman for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania, and Diamond State Telephone of Delaware. Dave loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed camping and was an avid fisherman. He was a man of faith and was always involved in his church. Over the years he was a member of Colwyn Baptist Church, Living Hope Presbyterian Church, Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church, and the Hershey Free Church. He sang in the church choir as well as solos, served on the elder board, taught Sunday School, and was a church deacon. He also volunteered his time to do repairs and maintain the church.Dave is survived by two sons, David Sheppard, Jr, of Harrisburg, PA, and Paul Sheppard and his wife Amy, of Griswold, a daughter, Deborah Beth Scott, of Camp Hill, PA, six grandchildren, Justin M. Sheppard, Julia A. Hvass, Laura B. Clodfelter, Hannah E. Murphy, Micah J. Sheppard, Justin P. Scott, and fourteen great grandchildren. Esther's family includes Martha Halter and Mary Bair and her husband, Jeff as well as two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his wife Esther, he was preceded in death by his first wife, June A. (Johnstone) Sheppard, a sister, Jeanette S. Barden, a son-in-law, Richard "Dick" Scott, and a daughter-in-law, Karen L. Sheppard. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. in Park Lawn Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201. A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Hershey Free Church, 330 Hilltop Rd, Hummelstown, PA 17036, with Rev. George Davis officiating. Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
