Obituary

Craig Stephen Alvis, 76, currently of Enola, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025.

Born on November 11, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, he was the son of the late Dwight S. and Eloise (Gratz) Alvis.

Craig was a graduate of South Side High School, Fort Wayne, IN. He attended Indiana University, Bloomington, IN before serving in the US Navy. He served in Vietnam, trained in Pensacola, FL, and was stationed in Japan and Iceland. He received a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University after his military service. Craig resided in San Diego, CA for 50 years. Craig, a computer scientist, worked for several companies, including Ford Motor Company. He worked in sales and marketing for a Thermal Cycler manufacturer which took him to many European countries. Most recently, he was a substitute elementary school teacher for Poway Unified School District, in Poway, CA. Craig was a black belt in Wado-Ryu Karate. He enjoyed visiting Kauai, traveling and renovating houses.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Kreitzer, of Enola, PA, a sister, Tamara Alvis, of San Diego, CA, a brother, Christopher Alvis and his wife Janet, of Lakeside, CA, and a nephew, Brandon Alvis, of Lakeside, CA. He is survived by nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews from his wife's side of the family. And Beulah, the bulldog.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, July 28, 2025, in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 15 Meadow Trail, Dillsburg, PA, with Rev. Alan Echard officiating. All who would like to attend should meet directly at the cemetery by 3pm. Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Camp Hill, has been entrusted with funeral arrangments.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sharon Miller's Dog Care Service, 271 Rich Valley Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, (please make checks payable to Sharon Miller and put "In honor of Craig Alvis" in the memo line of the check.)
