Clifford H. Evens Jr., 83 of Camp Hill passed away peacefully on Wednesday Feb. 11th. He was born on Nov. 1st 1931 in West Chester, Pa. to the late Clifford H. Evens Sr. and Eleanor Evens.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Carolyn J. Evens. Surviving are his two sons, Clifford H. III (wife Tracy) of Mechanicsburg, and Charles D. (wife Nancy) of Camp Hill. In addition, he has 4 loving grandchildren Lauren (Baltimore), Brent (Atlanta), Sarah (Camp Hill) and Drew (Camp Hill). He was also preceded in death by his brother Edwin (wife Ginny) and survived by his sister Lois Claire (husband Richard) of Downingtown, Pa.

Cliff graduated High School in 1949 from Tredyffrun-Easttown in Berwyn, Pa. He attended 2 yrs. at Penn St. before being drafted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1953. He married Carolyn Jones in 1956 and worked at Good Year Tire and Rubber Co. as a Sales Manager. In 1960 he moved his young family to Harrisburg, Pa. and bought a franchise of the Overhead Door Co. For the next 30 years he owned, operated, and built a thriving business with both commercial and residential garage doors. It seemed everyone wanted an automated garage door. In the late 1980's he sold the business but remained on as the lead salesman and bridged into retirement in 1993.

Cliff enjoyed fishing and bike riding and listening to country music, but his passions in life were his cabin in Perry County, Penn St. Football, and golfing. He built his cabin in 1971 and spent much of his spare time and retirement days fishing, walking and figuring out how to make work for himself (and his sons) at his dream house. Cliff owned PSU season tickets for over 30 years and swears he helped Joe Paterno win 2 National Titles. As for golf, well anyone who played golf with Cliff knows there was never a lie that couldn't be improved. His belief was that golf is a game that should be enjoyed rather than stressed over.

Cliff loved watching his grandchildren grow up following them to all their sports and band activities. Cliff longed stressed the value of education as the path to improve our lives. Every graduation was one shining moment for him as his one regret was never returning to PSU to earn his degree after he got out of the Army. He wasn't going to let his kids or grandkids make that same mistake.

We will always remember Cliff for that smiling face, funny quip, and kind word for all. A Memorial Service will be held on Sat. Feb. 21 at the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held at 10:30. The Service will begin at 11:00 with a lunch served in Fellowship Hall afterwards. Donations or contributions can be sent to the Alzheimers Association, Greater Pa.
