Betty Elizabeth Searfoss, 97, of Newville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at her daughter's home, surrounded by family.

Born on April 19, 1925, in Corning, NY, she is the daughter of Louis and Marie Minnie (Hakes) Cox.

Betty enjoyed baking and decorating cakes and was a pioneer in tiered wedding cakes. She owned and operated the Kopy Kat Ceramic Shop. She would talk and make friends with anyone. She treated her children's friends as her own and was called "Mom" by many. In her later years she enjoyed reading. She was proud of her adult coloring book creations and would show them to everyone. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them during holidays and any other family events. She was proud of her family's service to Country in the United States Navy. She enjoyed traveling with her husband across the country to visit family and friends. Betty was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Shippensburg.

She is survived by three sons, David Searfoss and his wife Betty, of Clearwater, FL; Kevin Searfoss and his wife Annette, of Greencastle, PA; and Keith Searfoss, of Newville, PA; two daughters, Gloria Brennan and her husband Robert, of Lawrenceville, PA; Dawn Shaffer, of Newville, PA; and; two sisters, Caroline Hill, of Athens, PA; and Eleanor Sample, of Bath, NY; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Leland Searfoss, and two sons: Guy Searfoss and Kenneth Searfoss.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, December 9, 2022, in the Myers-Baker Funeral Home, 1903 Market St, Camp Hill, PA, with her son, Rev. Keith Searfoss officiating. A visitation with Betty's family will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be held following the service in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Betty would prefer you plant a tree in her memory.
