Obituary

Ashley Summers Drawbaugh, 47, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 from pancreatic cancer. She was born at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania on September 15, 1972 to the late Terry R. Summers and Carolyn R. Summers and was the twin sister of Allyson Summers Wright. Raised in the Historic Shipoke neighborhood of Harrisburg and later in Camp Hill, she graduated from Camp Hill High School in 1990. She was a member of the Phi Mu sorority and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (1994). Ashley had a career in logistics, first at Quaker Oats in Mechanicsburg, then as a Materials Manager for Nestle Purina Petcare.

She found the love of her life James (Jed) Drawbaugh, a fellow Camp Hill classmate, upon returning to Camp Hill after graduating from IUP. They married August 25, 2001 and lived in Shiremanstown and then settled again in Camp Hill. They have two wonderful children, Kathryn and Jonathan. Ashley loved her family and was very proud of their many successes.

Ashley will forever be remembered for her great sense of humor and zest for life, traits her children and nieces/nephews adored. Growing up in Shipoke, she enjoyed hanging out and playing with all the neighborhood kids along the riverside park. Ashley loved the water (pool, ocean, or lake) and was often the last adult in the water with the kids, unwilling to exit, riding and jumping waves or being silly on pool floats. She was fun and friendly and had such an outgoing spirit. She relished weekends, family vacations and holidays, and spending time with friends. As the daughter of an artist, she enjoyed DIY home projects and decorating, as well as creating pieces of art. She was loving and kind, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she touched.

She is survived by her mother, Carolyn R. Summers; husband James (Jed) Drawbaugh and her two children Kathryn and Jonathan; sister Allyson Summers Wright (Sandy); nieces Lindsey Wright and Joanne Drawbaugh; nephews Alex Wright and Doug Drawbaugh; and many other loving family members.
